Rope Splicing

Typically, two types of splices are used: free-eye splices or thimbles made of stainless steel or galvanized steel. This splice eliminates the need for knots, which can reduce loads by up to half. There are no limits on length or color, and splices can be customized upon request. For dock mooring, we recommend using lengths no longer than 10 meters and with eyelets at least 0.8-1 meter long. Upon request, free-eye splices can be covered with a protective tubular leather sheath that can be personalized with heat-stamped lettering.

Wherever there is significant friction and rubbing with harder parts of the rope, the rope must be protected with a thimble. Rekord Cordami has designed an exclusive system for double-sheathed ropes that requires on-site intervention and only during the rope manufacturing process. If you wish to work on a ready-made rope, simply request the F.16 American sheet, which is specially prepared for easy splicing. When you are certain of the required measurements (length and diameter), we recommend requesting the exclusive Rekord splicing system, which offers greater guarantees and is performed with special machines for better fastening on ropes from 4 mm to 100 mm.
